Spring is here! I’m so ready to move on from the cold, dreary days into the warmer weather that spring brings. I’m ready to trade the heavy layers for some light, flowy clothes. I love this time of year for bringing out the pastels and soft, pretty colors in anything I can get my hands on! Today I want to share with you my spring essentials and must-haves for beauty products, hairstyle options, and fashion pieces!
Pastel nails – Bring on all the pastel colors! My top choices for nail colors for spring are soft purples, mints, peaches, and pinks.
Soft, natural eyeshadows – I almost always wear a neutral eye look, but for spring I like to bring in more peachy shades especially for blending together other brown shades that I use.
Illuminator/highlighter – Add some highlight on the tops of your cheek bones and you will instantly have a fresh, glowing look.
Bronzer – Using a bronzer on the outside edges of your face gives you a perfect, sun-kissed look!
Lip gloss – Finish off with a pop of pink on your lips and it will really bring life to your face!
Tanning lotion – You may have a pretty sundress and some cute new shorts that you’re dying to wear, but nothing throws off a look like pasty-white skin. After the cold winter months, there’s no better time to bring out the tanning lotion than for spring! Self-tanning lotion is honestly one of my absolute must-haves. In order to get radiantly, glowing skin you should definitely check out JERGENS® line of tanning moisturizers at Walmart. They had a bunch of the JERGENS® products placed right at the end of one of the beauty aisles, so you can’t miss it!
I have been using the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturizer paired with the JERGENS® Natural Glow® FACE Daily Moisturizer with Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 20. These two products have made getting a natural, sun-kissed look sooo easy! You guys really need to check them out for yourselves! Here’s how to use the glow moisturizers to get a gradual and beautiful tan:
– Start out by showering, shaving, and exfoliating (JERGENS® even has a Natural Glow® Color Primer In-Shower Scrub to prep your skin prior to tanning!).
– Choose the right shade for you! Choose the color based on your natural skin tone or your current starting point. I chose to start with the color Fair to Medium. (Tip: On dry areas like knees, ankles, fingers, or toes, you can apply a regular moisturizer before you tan. These dry areas will soak up extra color, so moisturize these areas well beforehand!)
– Smooth the JERGENS® Natural Glow® Daily Moisturizer onto your skin. If you just use your hands to apply, make sure to wash your hands afterwards. Another option is to apply it using a sunless tanning mitt.
– If you are using the gradual glow moisturizer like I am, apply it daily until you have achieved your desired color, and then reapply 1-2 times per week to maintain.
That’s it! It is super easy. Just replace the daily body lotion or moisturizer you are currently using with the gradual glow moisturizer and you will start seeing beautiful results! I also started using the glow facial moisturizer (I love that it has SPF!). You simply apply it on a clean face and smooth it in evenly. I just used a small amount on my fingers and massaged it in gently and washed my hands afterward.
Sleek ponytail – Keep it simple with a sleek pony. It will keep the hair off your face while also looking timeless. Don’t forget to use some hair oil to tame down any fly-away strands.
Half-up – Another easy way to keep hair away from your face are half-up hairstyles, which have been very popular lately! You can style the top section into a bun or some kind of braid.
Undone, loose waves – By using a curling wand and some sea salt spray, you can achieve this cute look really easily.
Boho braids – Braids aren’t going anywhere this year! There are so many different kinds of braids that you can do! I created a braided hairstyle a few days ago that I think is perfect for spring! I braided a dutch braid on either side of my face and pulled them both around the back and secured them with some bobby pins! I used my favorite curling wand to create really loose curls to finish off the look!
New workout clothes – Get motivated to get active and get outside with some new workout clothes! There are so many stores that carry affordable athletic clothes in a variety of cute patterns and colors!
Sunglasses – You can’t go wrong with a pair of mirrored aviator sunglasses or a classic black framed pair.
Springy dresses – My favorite thing to bring back for spring are cute, lightweight dresses. They are the easiest thing to wear and style. It’s easy to pair a pretty, patterned dress with a jean jacket or light cardigan, some sandals, and you’re good to go!
Wedge/gladiator sandals – A neutral pair of sandals are what I live in all spring and summer. A nice pair of gladiator-style sandals are so versatile and can be worn with dresses, shorts, or skinny jeans. To dress up your look a little, just swap out the gladiators for some cute wedge sandals!
Lightweight cardigans or button ups – A fashion staple for me are cardigans and button ups to wear over tank tops, t-shirts, or dresses. I tend to stick with neutral colored cardigans and my chambray button-up to take with me anywhere I go.
Since the weather has actually been warming up lately (and now that I have nice, tanned skin!), it makes me all the more excited to start wearing spring and summer clothes. What are your must-haves for spring? Are there any items you are currently loving or anything that you’ve had your eye on lately? Let me know! Have a great day! xo.
