Today I want to share a few tips on taking an outfit (and makeup) from day to night. The same clothes that can be worn out to grab some coffee or run errands in can also be transitioned into the perfect evening outfit for going to a party or out for a date night.
Starting with neutrals can be the easiest way to achieve this. For my two looks, I started with this dress. Below I’ll share five specific ways I took my outfit and makeup from daytime to nighttime.
5 Ways to go from Day to Night:
1| You can go from casual to dressy by starting with a pony tail or quick top knot and ending the evening with loose, tosseled curls. (Tip: During the day, use hair ties that won’t crease and kink your hair. I love using these hair ties). The best and quickest way for me to curl my hair is by using a curling wand that heats up fast and holds the curl! My favorite are still the NuMe curling wands – I have both the Classic Wand and the Magic Wand and love them both. Good news! – I have an awesome coupon for you! You can get any curling wand + a free gift for just $29! (reg. price $139+) – Use code ‘BF29WAND‘. This code is valid until 7/31/16.
2| One of the easiest ways to transition your makeup from day to night is lip color! For my daytime look I am wearing a ColourPop Lippie Stix in the color Bound. I’ve heard so much about these lip colors and finally tried one for myself! I love it and the price too – it’s only $5! For my night look, I used the darker shade of the e.l.f. Day to Night Lipstick Duo in Graphic Minimalist. These lipsticks are so creamy and you get two shades (a day and a night shade) for just $5!
3| Another way to switch up your makeup is to create a bolder eye look. I added some black liquid liner over top my softer liner that I was wearing, and also amped up my lashes by adding some false lashes. These are currently my favorites! If you don’t feel comfortable trying out false lashes, add a few more coats of mascara and you’re good to go!
4| Go from flats to heels or casual sandals to wedges. A quick change of shoes really changes up your look. I wore these lace-up sandals (now only available in black) and later switched into a pair of wedges from Aldo. I gathered lots of similar shoe options and linked them all below!
5| Finally, an easy switch of a purse and jewelry really does the trick! I started with this purse (now 50% off!) from Nordstrom that I’ve been loving lately. For the evening look I grabbed a black purse to dress it up a bit! Check out the links below for more options! I threw on a simple silver chain necklace and that was it!
