Hey everyone! I always get super excited when makeup brands come out with a new collection. I look to blogs and Youtube to read/watch reviews to see what products are worth it and what I should pass on. Today I want to share all of the items that Physicians Formula recently launched. I was sent their new 80th Anniversary Collection (thanks Physicians Formula!!) and thought I’d give you a look at all the products as well as my first impressions.
Here is what was launched in this limited edition collection:
Four new products were released: Le Velvet Foundation, Eyeshadow Quads, Mineral Glow Pearls, and Cream Lipsticks.
This fan-favorite foundation is being reintroduced and claims to conceal imperfections while evening out skin tone AND minimizing pores! It has an SPF of 15 and is said to have full coverage, be long-wearing and water resistant. My thoughts: This foundation applied very well. I used a brush (which I hardly ever use for foundation because I’m hooked on the beauty blender!!) and I did think it applied smoothly. I’m not sure if I loved the finish after I applied it, so I ended up setting it with a bit of powder. The downfall for me is that there are only 4 shades to choose from. I used the shade Cream Ivory and it matched my skin pretty well but I do wish there were a few more options.
The Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls has a new shade for the 80th Anniversary – Pearl! This powder contains pearlescent pigments that accentuate natural lighting and enhance the skin’s natural radiance. My thoughts: This highlighter is gorgeous! The icy pink shade really packs a punch and has high shine! A little does go a long way, too. The one thing I do want to mention is that it has small glitters in it. Usually, I don’t like glitter in my highlight, but this glitter isn’t chunky and although this may not be a daytime highlighter, I do think I will be reaching for it for nighttime or special occasions.
Physicians Formula reintroduced and released two shades of their eyeshadow quads – Classic Nudes and Smoky Plums. Each quad has two matte shades and two shimmer shades created to be mixed, layered, and used either wet or dry. My thoughts: Of course I tried out the nude/brown shades first out of both quads. There wasn’t my perfect medium transition shade in the Nudes palette to start with in the crease of the eyelid, but the darker browns out of both palettes did blend well in the outer corner! I was impressed by the shimmer shades and found that they applied best with my fingertip, which I patted in the center of my lid. I did enjoy these shadows and will be reaching for them again!
Fun fact -this lipstick was the first product that the founder of Physicians Formula launched in 1937! This creamy, satin lipstick has been recreated with its long-wearing and high-pigment formula. The four colors include Red, Berry, Coral, and Nude. My thoughts: The formula is amazing!! It is so creamy and moisturizing. The lipsticks apply very smoothly, too! They have a great color pay-off and can be lightly patted and blended on the lips and used as more of a stain (because it definitely is long-wearing!) or applied heavier for a deeper pigmentation. I bet you can guess which one is my favorite! (the nude shade!)
(By the way… does anyone else sit on the floor in front of a mirror and do their makeup or is this just me!? I don’t have a big makeup vanity to sit at so the floor it is!) By the end of the day, here is what I thought about each of the products: The foundation was so-so. Although I did like the coverage, my t-zone got pretty oily and it seemed to accentuate my pores even more. My highlight was still glowing by the end of the day and I loved how it looked (even though there are tiny glitters). The eyeshadow held up well, especially the shimmer shades. I know I will be reaching for those again! And finally the lipstick lasted so long and like I had mentioned earlier, faded nicely and became like a lip stain. This is another item I will definitely reach for again!
So that’s my review and first impressions of this new and limited edition collection. The great thing about Physicians Formula is their promise that their products will always be hypoallergenic, paraben-free, gluten-free, oil-free, dermatologist approved, and more! I hope this little review was helpful to you! I would love to know of any new makeup you’ve been trying out lately! Let me know below! Have a great day, everyone and I’m praying for all of you who were impacted by the Las Vegas event. xo.
